Chocozap operates as a fully self-service, unmanned gym. Entry and exit are handled 24/7 via a smartphone app QR code. Equipment instruction and personal training guidance are not provided; beginners rely on in-app video guides.

Chocozap achieves its low price point (from ¥3,278/month incl. tax) through unmanned operations, minimal equipment, and a compact store format. By focusing on treadmills and basic resistance machines, it eliminates the cost of pools, group studios, and saunas.

Most Chocozap locations do not have showers, changing rooms, or lockers. The format is designed for short sessions after work or while out, with the expectation that members will change at home. A minority of larger locations do include shower facilities — check the individual gym page before joining.
